Provincetown Summer Art Colony, Cape Cod Beach Lodging

A visit of Provincetown Summer Art Colony combined with Cape Cod Beach Lodging makes for an exceptional Cape Cod vacation where light, water and art meet.

Art colonies such as Provincetown are places where artists can let their hair down, paint and write with little concern about critics and they can socialize with like-minded people.

Locals describe Provincetown as 'three miles long and two streets wide.'  Cars are not really needed since most of the 60 galleries, 170 restaurants and cafes, and dozens of inns, bed and breakfasts, and hotels are all within walking distance.

Even though over the centuries the city has supported a wide range of industry the production of plays, novels and paintings is by far the most influential in shaping the town.

Today, the community prides itself on efforts to keep the town affordable with several nonprofit groups, including the Fine Arts Work Center, offering fellowships.  Established artists often help younger ones by offering critiques and townsfolk have been known to open their homes to artist friends for extended visits.

As you plan your visit to Provincetowns Art Colony add a Cape Cod beach lodging establishment to your itinerary.

  1. I love being able to just go outside, enjoy the weather and paint. It's so relaxing and nice to share with other artists. Cape Cod is so wonderful for that.
